Reuben Sandwich
Posted:: Sept 27, 2009
I just had a craving for this dish and had to make it for lunch, and boy was it worth it.
So I dug into my old memory bank and figured I should post this up and share it with you guys.
Believe me when I say this but, the combination of all the ingredients makes this sandwich one yummy treat.
It’s been a while and I was craving for something other than the typical sub.
This is warm with melted cheese and the crispy rye bread, what a heavenly sandwich.
Reuben Sandwich Recipe
- 1 Tbsp soft butter
- 2 slices of rye bread
- 2 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/8 lb sliced corned beef (about 4 to 6 slices)
- 1/2 cup sauerkraut
- 1/4 cup Russian dressing
Russian dressing
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley leaves
- teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon horse radish
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all the Russian dressing ingredients and mix well in a small bowl;
this will be used to spread on the bread. It should be plenty for your sandwich maybe even two.
Prepare a skillet or frying pan over low medium heat.
We are going to toast the sandwich here. Prepare your sandwich; spread both
slices of rye bread with Russian dressing. Place one slice of Swiss cheese on each.
Then take the slices of corned beef to one side, top with the sauerkraut then top
off with the other slice of bread. Spread some butter on both outer sides of the
rye bread and place in skillet. Be cautious not to burn the bread, turn over to toast
the other side about 2 minutes on each side give or take. Remove from skillet, cut in
half and let sit about a minute or two, and then dig in. This sandwich with some
garlic fries and a coke is phenomenal.
